Collection Description (Ex., administrative notes, diary, printed matter):

The Patrick O'Boyle - Vatican Council II Collection consists of a number of materials he collected as a Council Father during the Second Vatican Council. The majority of the material contains official council documents, including schema drafts, observations, proposed emendations, voting results, and interventions, along with correspondence usually concerned with accompanying council documents. The dates of these documents range from 1963-1965, with a small portion lacking an indication of date. Although he was a member of the Commission on Seminaries, Studies, and Catholic Schools, the documents range widely across the spectrum of schemata. There are some argumentative essays of particular interest, such as "The Training of Priests" or "An 'Open Window' in the Seminary." Some of the documents contain annotations by the archbishop.
